Benefits of Organic Skincare

Organic Skincare for Your Baby?

Did you know that the average woman applies more than 200 chemicals to her skin by using her skin care products in one day? Did you know that 60% of these chemicals are further absorbed into your bloodstream?

The skin is the largest organ of the body. From your eyelids to the soles of your feet, your skin takes up approximately 16% of your actual body weight. It is very important to start as early as possible with a good, healthy skin care regimen so that you may avoid some of the unfortunate side affects of aging and disease.

If you believe in eating organic and doing your part to reduce waste, pollution, and emissions, then there’s no reason you shouldn’t look into the many benefits of organic skincare products.  They are not tested on animals and utilize animal-friendly products (no hormones, humanely raised). Not only that, but these goods, which were once considered both expensive and ineffectual, have improved by leaps and bounds due to awareness of benefits of organics ptoducts in recent years.  And if you’re going to do your body good by pampering it with eco-friendly cleansers and lotions, why wouldn’t you do the same for your precious baby?  There must be a lot of parents out there looking for safe ways to care for baby’s sensitive skin, because there is a surprisingly wide variety of organic products available for your child.  But what makes them better for baby?

Many regular skincare products include perfumes, dyes, and synthetic chemicals like parabens and laureth sulfates. However, anything you put on your skin can seep into your bloodstream, and many who prefer organics speculate the there is a strong possibility that these chemicals can accumulate in your body over time.  And while there simply has not been enough testing to determine the effects of small doses administered over a lengthy period, do you really want to expose your child to potentially harmful chemical ingredients?  Of course not!  No parent would.  So make sure that any product you choose is made of  high contents of certified organic ingredients!

Organic skin care products are made with ingredients that have not been subject to toxic chemicals.  They contain no unnatural preservatives or parabens, nor are animals allowed to be tested or harmed in any way in the production and consumption of these products.

If you are using non-organic skin care products it is important to note the effects the toxic chemicals also have on your hormones. It has been proven that the  increase in paraben use is directly correlated to an increased risk of breast cancer. So check out the back of your container and if any or most of the ingredients include butyl-, ethyl-, methyl- and propyl-, which are the four main parabens, then each time you put it onto your skin you increase your risks of disrupting the natural state of your hormones.
